X-L Synergy In the News
November 2007 – X-L Synergy's technology for fault tolerance in a miswired receptacle outlet has been granted U.S. Patent Number 7,292,419. This invention allows a fault protection receptacle outlet, such as a ground fault interrupt, to deliver protection to the user even in the event of a miswired or malfunctioning device.
October 2007 – X-L Synergy's Jan Beck and David Nemir have been awarded the Arch T. Colwell Merit Award for Outstanding Paper of 2006 by the Society of Automotive Engineers for the publication entitled “Arc Fault Detection Through Model Reference Estimation”. To be singled out for making a significant and original contribution to the field from among the thousands of SAE papers submitted in a given year is a singular honor --- Congratulations, Jan and David!
May 2007 – X-L Synergy's technology for cordset appliance control, allowing a distributed control for AC appliances, has been granted U.S. Patent Number 7,221,106. This is an enabling technology for “smart appliances” and represents a stepping stone toward the day when all electrical appliances will be networked to derive the maximum value from interconnectivity in the home.
February 2007 – X-L Synergy has completed a successful demonstration to the U.S. Air Force of its arc management for 270 VDC systems. This revolutionary fault management technology allows a control action other than just “off” or “on” and results in a system that is robust to nuisance tripping --- a feature that is a hard requirement for an airborne deployment. More About 270 VDC Arc Management
January 2007 – X-L Synergy has received first silicon for an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that detects electrical arcing faults in a 60 Hz AC system. The technology is resident in a circuit of over 1 million transistors. X-L Synergy is collaborating with industry partners to apply the technology to receptacle outlets and extension cords.
