Engineering

X-L Synergy maintains an experienced staff of engineering professionals who are available for short term consultation as well as long term project development. X-L Synergy maintains a complete suite of hardware and software prototype tools and can squire a project from concept to production.

For more intensive R&D efforts or efforts requiring specialized equipment, X-L Synergy can draw upon its close ties to the University of Texas at El Paso. X-L Synergy has sponsored multiple projects at UTEP and continues to employee UTEP students and faculty as co-op engineers and consultants.

X-L Synergy offers Computer/Systems Engineering solutions for Federal, State and Local customers under GSA listing GS-35F-0559R.

In House Arc Fault Research
Since its inception in 1996, X-L Synergy has maintained an active research program in arc fault management. In the late 1990's this led to the Company's first commercial products, the Faultless Plug® and the OnSentryTM line of appliance outlets, both offering arc fault protection for 60 Hz commercial systems. In 2002, the Company began the extension of this technology to 400 Hz systems and in 2004, the Company began researching arc management for 270 VDC systems under Air Force sponsorship. Early work in this regard is described in the article Arc Fault Management Using Solid State Switching.

X-L Synergy has expertise, tools and associates to

  • Modify existing software or develop custom software to work on an existing customer platform; software can be produced from an array of systems ranging from embedded systems to desktop operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

  • Provide and configure off-the-shelf technology into a custom platform by developing the middleware;

  • Design new hardware/software to meet unique specifications.

  • Design and produce printed circuit boards (PCB). These can range from simple single layer boards such as logic/protocol translators, to complicated, multilayer boards using small outline and BGA footprints.

  • Design and prototype Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC). We design custom integrated circuits using Verilog.

  • Rapidly prototype custom plastic enclosures using stereolithography.

  • Manufacture custom test setups. We maintain a complete machine shop.
